The San Antonio Silver Stars tip off their season tonight at the AT&T Center. It will be on LiveAccess online and NBATV & Fox Sports SouthWest at 8 pm. The Silver Stars are coming off from a great season last year and off a disappointing first round exit at the hands of the Los Angeles Sparks. In the off season, the Silver Stars lost Sophia Young to an ACL injury she suffered while playing overseas in China. The Silver Stars also drafted Kayla Alexander and Davellyn White hoping both can ease into the season and make an impact. The Silver Stars will also be without Becky Hammon who suffered a finger injury in practice about a couple of days ago. She is sidelined indefinitely.
The Silver Stars will have to rely on their young players – Danielle Adams and Danielle Robinson as well as Shenise Johnson. Jia Perkins, one of the key contributors off the bench last season will also be needed. Delisha Milton Jones experience will have to come in handy as they try to navigate their way into a tough opening schedule.
The Indiana Fever are coming off a championship from last season but are missing three important players as well as their rookie Layshia Clarendon. The Indiana Fever are still one of the best in the Eastern Conference due to their veterans and team leaders in Katie Douglas and Tamika Catchings and will be there once again, competing with the best of the East.
This game will feature a heavy amount of defense and the Silver Stars will need to attack the basket as well as their three point shooting to be able to come away with the victory.
